Have you had a rough day with class or work? Do you want a new hobby or need to focus on personal growth? Well there is a solution that can fill all of these needs. Lifting weights is something that anyone can get into, and the benefits are endless. It can promote many good attributes that you can apply to other parts of your life as well.
Lifting weights has many health benefits. While done properly, lifting can promote muscle growth and strength, a better metabolism, improve bone health, and reduce the risk for some diseases and injuries. Lifting can also promote mental health as well. It has been shown to improve anxiety, depression, and overall mood. Research has also shown that there is an increase in positive endorphins while lifting weights.
Lifting can also help improve your personal growth. Sticking to a set lifting program and diet can help with personal discipline and accountability. You can also set goals for individual lifts. Carrying over these attributes into your personal life can help you with classes, work and overall life. Also, hitting these goals can help with a feeling of success.
Lifting weights can also be a very social activity as well. The gym can seem intimidating, but I can assure you that there are more people willing to help than to judge. Maybe you don’t have a lot of experience in the gym. Well, there is always someone that is willing to help you on your path to success. Asking for help, or being in a group can also help improve your social anxiety. You may find yourself making new friends along the way as well.
There are many ways to improve yourself, whether that be physically, mentally, or socially. Overall though, I believe that there are few better ways to do it than by lifting weights. It allows you to improve yourself and the people around you all at the same time. If you haven’t tried lifting before, I highly recommend you give it a try.
