My first semester at college hasn’t been easy. Everyday I ask the question when is summer going to be here? That's all I can think about. Throughout this first semester I have struggled to maintain any sort of diet or even at times eating at all. I am constantly going back and forth from school to my job to doing my homework, I have not had time to seriously sit down and consider my personal well being of the very best energy there is, which is food. I would always tell myself “oh I don’t have time” but that was just an excuse because unless I'm taking up 24 hours of a day there is always time to put your health as a top priority.

I knew I needed to find a solution so I found the courage to talk to my mom and I asked her if she could start buying some more protein options like chicken, steak and ground beef so that I could meal prep that with rice. I also asked for lots of fruit because I love it and it's a great snack for on the go. I would normally cook my food on saturday nights after i got off work so that i could have sunday to finish any homework I had. I would normally make around 10 portions of meals and at least 14 portions of fruit in. So I would have 10 meals throughout the week for lunch and dinner and then 2 snacks for each day.

A couple of my friends thought I was over doing it but I enjoyed being productive after a long Saturday shift. The meals were not just to help me be healthy and have more energy but to relieve stress. I didn’t have to worry about going through a drive thru after class or when I would fill up my car, get a meal at the Gas station. I knew that every night I would come home I would have a meal waiting for me in the fridge. I also understood that I was a very busy person. So I invested in a lunch box and made sure that I had it packed every single time I left the house. I would get up in the morning and throw some water bottles and my gallon jug in there as well as a couple of my fruit cups, beef sticks and even sometimes at work I would bring my meal prepsand heat them up at work.

I found out that taking the extra time to care about something very important is worth it. As a full time college student who also works 30-35 hours every week, you sometimes get lost and forget about when you felt your very best and what you were doing in that time to make you feel that way.
